Dear Aarna,

Great job with starting a new hobby that you will hopefully continue to enjoy and nurture. Did you like this new song? Here are mountains that Tootly sends for you! πŸ”οΈπŸ”οΈπŸ”οΈ

Dear Parent,

This vocal exercise is part of the set that all students of classical music learn. Once the first stage of expanding the voice range, getting stability while singing, and being able to sing with ease in different directions is achieved, students move on to exercises created by jumping notes like these. Think of them like training exercises for their voices.
In this particular song, we are checking a few things: if students can jump and land correctly. Just like coming down a slope, the downward pattern is even more difficult and tests if the students have begun to create mind-maps of the notes.

Yes, this is a tough exercise so don’t worry if the child is not singing it independently yet. Keep practising/ recording in a lead-follow fashion (with the backing voiceover).

Just remember to use the Tootly reference, as there are many other aspects other than lyrics that the child imbibes by listening to the right reference.

Aim to start singing on your own in a few practices – for this, start listening to 2 at a time (instead of 1) phrase, then 3 at a time and so on.

Now that Aarna is getting involved in singing and even trying to get the lyrics on her own a bit, please revisit the older assignment and work forward from Assignment 1 onwards. It will be good for her to start singing some of these with more confidence and ease. You can email these recordings directly to [email protected]

You’re in the final stretch of Course 1 – so keep up the pace. You will also get a Course Completion Certificate soon.
Hope you enjoy the last few lessons of Course 1. Please check details of Course 2 at https://www.tootly.in/courses which will help you take the momentum forward.
