This is a vocal exercise that every beginner student of classical music learns. Once the first stage of expanding the voice range, getting stability while singing, and being able to sing with ease in one direction (up or down) is achieved, students move on to exercises created by recurring patterns like these. Think of them like training exercises for their voices.
In this particular song, we are checking a few things: if students can manoeuvre the zig zag melody well, reach the correct highest point of the melody, and land back correctly at the starting point after completing the song.

Confidence and Independence – excellent
Understanding of the concept or exercise – excellent
Singing/ Pitching – good*
Rhythm – good
Overall control (volume, breath etc) – good, needs some work
Pronunciation/ recollection of lyrics – excellent
Notes: Manvik – you have sung well, and do learn to control your voice properly when singing so that the entire song sounds uniform. Also remember, that we have to sing clearly; need not be loudly 🙂
Since there are multiple (but repetitive) lines in the song, I’d suggest practising/ recording in a lead-follow fashion (with the backing voiceover) too. This will take care of the feedback mentioned in recollection and singing above. While Manvik is able to sing well, he just needs to get the particular tune for the particular line correct.
We’re happy that as expected by this stage of the course, Manvik is able to understand the melodic pattern, imitate a tune well and also have a certain amount of control and smoothness in singing. Keep up the good work 🙂

The next recording is quite a few lessons away, but there is a live meet milestone in between. Please look out for the email notification once you complete Day 39. If you feel so, please schedule one before that too.
